Machines usually have handles and pads for the elbows. Performing the pullover on a machine, the movement typically starts with the arms overhead. It is not uncommon to have sore triceps after performing pullovers, this is due to the triceps role in holding a fixed angle of the elbow (isometric contraction). Once the upper arm is perpendicular to the ground, the weight has been completely unloaded from the musculature being worked during a Pullover. Continue to move the weight until it is directly over your chest or nearly directly. Once the desired range of motion has been completed, pause and reverse motion into the concentric or positive phase. Continue to lower the weight until your upper arms are parallel to the ground or to the point that your mobility allows (excessive range of motion may lead to a shoulder injury). Press the weight straight up from your chest, set your elbows at the desired angle (slight bend) and initiate the eccentric or negative phase of the Pullover. Using a Barbell or Dumbbell to provide resistance, you will start by lying supine on a bench. In order to fully work the lats, you must use a single joint exercise, thus eliminating the weak link (arms). The reason that Arthur explained, “it is difficult to fully work the lats because the arms are much smaller and unable to do as much work as the much larger lats.” The arms are the limiting factor, in terms of stimulating the musculature of the torso. He claimed that up until the point, it was impossible to isolate and fully work the largest single muscle of the upper body, the Latissimus Dorsi. The Pullover was the first machine that Arthur Jones built of what would become fitness giant “Nautilus Inc” (he sold the first one in 1970). To quickly summarize, the regulations require platform owners like Apple to open up app installations to third-party app stores and websites. This move would come as a result of EU regulations which were adopted in 2022, with a compliance deadline for tech companies by March 2024. In fact, we've heard talk of multiple app redesigns that might grant certain native apps on iOS 17 a distinctly different look to what you might currently be familiar with.īloomberg's Mark Gurman stated in a newsletter entry that he expects Apple to add app sideloading to iOS 17. Improvements on the agenda for Apple Music with iOS 17 include the ability to view song lyrics directly on your phone's lock screen, with Apple also set to place emphasis on reducing the amount of text in the Apple Music app, in favor of new images and graphics. Following WWDC, this could be Contact Posters they were inadvertently referring to, but lock screen sharing may still be on the cards in its own right.Īs for the Control Center, iOS 17 is expected to bring major UI changes to the helpful shortcut page, while custom categories and other organizational features are reportedly bound for your iPhone’s App Library. IOS 17's debut at WWDC 2023 gave us an in-depth look at a ton of features coming to the next major iPhone software release, and there's more to it than we first expected. iOS 16.4 introduced a code that makes iPhone updates download by default, with Apple evidently hoping that the change will ensure that most people are running the latest version of iOS. Incidentally, if your iPhone does qualify for Apple's next big update, it'll likely download iOS 17 automatically. With Apple's 2017 iPhones absent from the final list, this means the company will have dropped support for almost all devices running on its A11 Bionic chip.Īpple routinely drops support for older devices with every new edition of iOS and iPadOS – the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and iPad Air 2 were among the models left behind by iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, for instance – and both the iPhone X and iPhone 8 are now five years old, which is usually grounds for the chopping block. One MacRumors source “with a proven track record,” had stated (ahead of WWDC) that iOS 17 would drop support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, and the sad fact is that cut-off appears to have held firm, now that the release is official. Initial concerns appear to have been realised, as the likes of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X (above) don't make the cut for iOS 17 support (Image credit: Future)Īpple announced the iOS 17 release after the Apple September event, placing it at Monday, September 18. In addition to peer mentors, coaches, and sponsors, working mothers need support from colleagues and managers for their ongoing care responsibilities. This includes formal "returnship" programs, as well as training, development, and refresher courses in technology where skills may be rusty.įinally, improving the workplace culture by making it more inclusive, more collegial, and less reliant on face time is vital. "Employers ought to plan for caregiving leave in the same way that they think about succession planning," she said.Įquipping women with the tools they need to be successful upon reentry to work is also key. In addition to maternity and paternity leave, nearly a quarter of Americans have taken leave from work to care for a sick family member. Organizations need to take a "holistic view of the career journey" and acknowledge that temporarily leaving work for caregiving is common. Normalizing the conversation around caregiving - as LinkedIn is attempting to do - is another important step, Foster said. "Employers should not put caregivers in a position of needing to choose between family and work," Weisshaar said. If women feel supported in the first place, they may be less inclined to leave. Increasing the availability of high-quality part-time jobs can help, too. "By failing to attract and support mothers, employers are missing out on a lot of talent." Bringing mothers back to workĪt a time when the pandemic is reshaping the workplace, employers have an opportunity to reimagine policies around work, family, and caregiving, and identify ways to support working mothers.Īllowing more flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work gets done is a start. See the complete profile on LinkedIn and discover Jen’s connections and jobs at similar companies. Research showed that increasing the availability of high-quality, affordable childcare is critical to helping mothers and caregivers. For women whose wages barely (or maybe don't) cover the cost of childcare, the decision to stay in a job is a nonstarter. But the realities of parenthood - from the sleepless-newborn stage to the toddler-temper-tantrum phase to the era of busy school-age children, and the seemingly never-ending family to-do list that goes with it – clash with those expectations.Ĭrushing childcare costs are another factor, particularly for lower-earning mothers. Employers seek ideal workers - people willing to put in long hours and prioritize their jobs above all else. "But in fact, it was their workplace that was incompatible with the demands of caregiving." "The perception that stay-at-home parents are less competent and less committed places the blame on the individuals - they're the ones who decided to leave," Weisshaar said. They were also viewed as less reliable, less committed, and less deserving of a job. In a follow-up experiment, Weisshaar pinpointed the reasons: Hiring managers viewed stay-at-home-parent applicants as less capable than those with no employment lapses. It often indicates a user profile.Ī study in 2018 by Kate Weisshaar, a sociologist at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, found that hiring managers discriminated against applicants who've temporarily stayed at home with their children, even favoring laid-off candidates who've been out of work for the same amount of time. This means that Easter can fall anywhere between March 22nd and April 25th. The Church then sets the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the paschal full moon. The date of Easter is determined by the first full moon after the Spring Equinox, which is known as the “ecclesiastical” or “paschal” full moon. While it is often associated with the Spring Equinox, Easter does not always fall on March 21st. EasterĮaster is a Christian holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. During Higan, followers contemplate the transient nature of life and the ultimate goal of achieving enlightenment. Higanīuddhists celebrate Higan during the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes as a time for reflection, meditation, and honouring ancestors. Although the name “Naw Ruz” is specific to Persian and Iranian culture, Nowruz is also celebrated in other countries that were historically part of the Persian Empire, such as Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The holiday also represents a time for spiritual renewal and reflection as well as the celebration of nature and the coming of spring. I have a Harmony (650) and Im setting up Flirc with XBMC. But that has probably something to do with the fact that I set it up entirely in the harmony software. This is on the native remote of my panasonic tv, because my harmony doesn't work at all. I choose that button, but it doesn't really work. So I looked up the keyboard shortcuts for XBMC and mapped backspace to back, but when I choose the keyboard layout in the flirc software it says delete instead of backspace. I used an old MSMC remote and used the Flirc GUI to teach its keys the Flirc commands from the chart. Next, I needed ANY old IR remote laying around to learn the Flirc commands in Tonyskis great chart. I experienced the same problem as mentioned above. The Harmony One has an canned profile for Flirc, XBMC. I just got my flirc yesterday and I was trying around with the settings. I can safely assume that the USB port on the Ouya is working, as any memory stick. I followed and tried various other things, but cant get a single remote command to work when Flirc is connected to the Ouya. Using the Keyboard preset in Flirc gui you can match up the command you want from the xbmc keyboard wiki ( ) with the button on your remote.Įxit button on your remote - map to "Esc"īack button on your remote - map to "backspace" For several weeks Im now trying to get my Flirc to work with my Ouya, but without luck. The one last issue I am having is as follows. I have added a wake and suspend/shutdown key which works. I have setup the harmony using the flirc / xbmc combo in the my harmony software. You've found the XBMC controller preset in the Flirc GUI contains a few errors, some lesser used functions are not present (to simplify it for the user). Hi Guys, I am having an issue with the flirc / harmony one / openlec combination. |
