The STS-51L Challenger flight crew receives emergency egress training in the slide wire baskets. The shuttle program was grounded until the orbiter Discovery blasted off on Sept. Every last little technical piece was re-analyzed." "The space shuttle had to be entirely re-certified. In a way, the accident jolted these decision-makers awake, Chiao said. (Rockwell International built the space shuttles for NASA.) "If the decision-makers had known all of the facts, it is highly unlikely that they would have decided to launch 51L on Jan. "They did not have a clear understanding of Rockwell's concern that it was not safe to launch because of ice on the pad," they added. Those who made that decision were unaware of the recent history of problems concerning the O-rings and the joint, and were unaware of the initial written recommendation of the contractor advising against the launch at temperatures below 53 degrees Fahrenheit and the continuing opposition of the engineers at Thiokol after the management reversed its position," investigators wrote in their report about the disaster, which is known as the Rogers Commission Report. "The decision to launch the Challenger was flawed. The temperature at liftoff time was 36 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) - 15 degrees F (8 degrees C) colder than any previous shuttle launch, NASA officials have said. The O-ring failed in part because unusually cold temperatures on launch day caused the part to harden, investigators later determined. Challenger was lost because a rubber "O-ring" seal on the shuttle's right-hand solid rocket booster failed, allowing hot gas to escape and damage the orbiter's external fuel tank, as well as the gear that attached the booster to the tank. That type of thinking played a significant role in the disaster, experts have concluded. "There was a 'launch fever' at the time, to try to get these missions off on time, and get more missions going," he said. That run of success bred a measure of complacency, Chiao said. We wanted to play our small role in helping to build that backbone and support the distribution of really good food. We also know restaurants form the backbone of communities – acting as a social gathering place and a second home. We know food can provide joy, comfort, connection, healing, and so much more. It’s the reason we got into the business of serving restaurants, bars, and coffee shops with custom disposable takeout products like custom plastic cups, custom paper cups, custom deli containers, custom napkins, custom wax paper sheets, custom sandwich bags, custom paper bags, custom coffee cups, custom coffee sleeves, and more. And if that still sounds too much like hard work, there's a surprisingly effective random option. In a nutshell, it's an automatic pattern generator that enables one to set a few key parameters that determine the melody and groove of a riff, with the results being sent to the piano roll. The new Riff Machine feature tied into the piano roll makes it easy to come up with riffs, arpeggios and chord progressions. Not many DAWs boast such a straightforward yet comprehensive M/S tool and Image-Line are to be applauded for making a potentially confusing technique so accessible. There are lots of useful presets, too, divided into an Effects bank (with presets for 'stereoising' mono signals and other interesting stereo effects), and a Mixing bank. M/S processing might not seem like an obvious choice for an FL Studio effect, but it's such a powerful concept that its inclusion can only be a good thing. Stereo Shaper, meanwhile, is a mid/side-capable stereo processor, with a mixer for left/right channels and their inverted equivalents, plus knobs for channel delay and phase offset. Vocodex is a huge step up from the old Fruity Vocoder, with a clear interface that makes it quick and easy to dial in great sounds. ![]() Perhaps most enticing are the new effects. "Autogun is the only new instrument and is based on the additive synthesis engine of Image-Line's Ogun plug-in." Of more value is the inclusion of five existing synths - DX-10, WASP, WASP XT, SimSynth and DrumSynth - that were previously bundled only with the top-of-the-range editions of FL Studio, but now come with all packages except Express. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a really uncertain time in my life. I know this was a huge block of text, and thank you for reading through it. If I drop Phys 211 and pursue my double CS schedule, I can apply for transfer earlier, and hopefully keep future physics scores out of the equation (just in case). Physics is the real wild card.įurther more, If I get a B in Calc 2 and 3, and go ahead with the CS classes (assuming As because thats what I absolutely need), then when it comes time to transfer, I'd be at 3.77 which gives me a good shot at transferring. Requirements include As in 173 and 225 (Which I'm confident I can pull off), a 3.67 GPA (Which is where I start to get nervous) and nothing lower than a B in technical classes (See why Physics is starting to scare me?).Īs it is, I can count on 5 A's (CS, Gen Ed, Mus, LAS 101 and CS 100), and I can assume 1-2 Bs (The two calcs). I really can't plan beyond that due to the uncertainty of the situation Phys 211 (retake) / Phys 212 (depending on final semester grade) Astro 210 (If I'm denied a transfer, as noted later) Math 231E (Regrade) / Math 241 depending on final semester grade for the Fall CS 225 (Been told by several people this is a good idea, feel free to leave your take as some people have offered conflicting views) My plan for the future should I drop would be this:. This would place me at 16 credit hours, which I guess is pretty healthy for a Freshman. I have a class I'm taking for 1 credit (Mus) but can be taken for up to 3 credits (If I can get the approval at this stage). I was considering dropping Phys 211 for now. I'm at 18 credit hours currently (CS 125, Math 231E being the other big ones) and I'm falling behind in Math (not as badly though).Īs it is right now, if I applied the 3:1 rule and devoted every second of free time (with 2am bedtime), including weekends, to studying, I'd still be 6-12 hours behind where I should be. This is as much to do with a real lack of time in addition to the difficultly of the problems. Homework wise, I've gotten scores between 70%-100%, but most lie in the 75%-85% range. I've only had to take 1 of the 3 quizzes so far (excused absences), but I got a pretty poor score on that one as well. So while I was consistently getting C's on the practice exams, this one wasn't quite as good. All the problems I studied in depth (Gravitation, Spring based problems) were no shows and the questions that made it to the test, for the most part, I had not seen on any of the practice exams. The gravity of the moon and the sun, and to a lesser extent the planets, acts on Earth's equatorial bulge - caused by the planet's rotation - to shift its axis of rotation. The cause of the shifting in zodiac signs is precession, the slight 'wobble' Earth experiences as it orbits the sun. The problem was, that these ancient astrologers weren't aware of a ' wobble' in Earth's motion that would seriously disrupt their system as time progressed. The other astrological signs of the zodiac were categorized in a similar way, each grabbing its own 30-degree slice of the ecliptic. This intersection is also known as the vernal equinox and the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere because it is considered the first day of spring.Ģ,200 years ago this zero point occurred in Aries, hence its name the "first point of Aries."
